When your kids are burnt out on textbooks and workbooks, break out the games!  Even games designed for older kids can be modified for younger ones, and you can turn any game into something educational with a little creative thinking!  Here are some games we found to help with building grammar skills.

Cooking Up Sentences!

Cooking Up Sentences Board GameProper grammar is easy as pie when "chefs" follow recipes to make complete sentences by gathering and correctly identifying parts of speech. Draw a free ingredient card and add the funny word of your choice to the mix. Read complete sentences aloud for giggles and spoken grammar practice. Parts of Speech Cards feature color-coded backs for self-checking. Cooking Up Sentences! is one of our favorites! Ages 7 and up.

Fun with Language Arts

Fun with Language ArtsA language arts game for grades 3 & up. As students play around this colorful gameboard, they are involved in basic capitalization, punctuation, word usage, and spelling drills. Self-correcting cards give immediate feedback, making this terrific for independent groups.  Fun with Language Arts is designed for younger players, but it can easily be modified for older students with custom cards. Ages 8 and up.

Funglish

Go to Press! A Grammar Game
