IAMHOMESCHOOLING.COM - YOUR #1 HOMESCHOOL RESOURCE

iamhomeschooling.com is a comprehensive homeschool website that provides valuable information and a vast compilation of resources to all homeschooling families, whether considering homeschooling, new to homeschooling, or veteran homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers nationwide will find helpful articles, support groups, umbrella schools, evaluators, curriculum resources, homeschool events and programs, printable planners and forms, organized links to educational websites and free resources, and more. Understanding the need for up-to-date information, and knowing first-hand how hard it is to find, we strive to keep our content current and relevant.

We also offer our own umbrella school for homeschoolers in the State of Florida. We operate as a home-based private school for grades K-12. We require annual attendance reporting in lieu of evaluations. Our school is affiliated with Florida Virtual School, and we can assist high school homeschoolers with dual enrollment at Florida community colleges and universities. Learn More

Dual Enrollment, the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Dual Enrollment, the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Helping my son plan his high school years was one of the most difficult "homeschooling" things I think I have ever had to do. With what seemed like the responsibility of my son's entire future in my hands, I wanted to be sure I didn't miss anything.  After working day and night for 12 days straight—I think, it's all a blur, I believe I finally figured out the whole high-school/dual-enrollment thing, and I wanted to share what I have learned so far. The technical details in this post are specific to Florida, but I think most states have similar laws, policies and procedures.

Middle School Curriculum Series: Writing and Grammar

This is part three of a series of posts I am writing to share the curriculum my daughter will be using for middle school. I don't use packaged curriculum, and I don't spend a lot of money, but what I do do is spend a good bit of time searching for the books and resources I want to use. Although my children have different academic strengths and learning styles, I find that my daughter can use most of the same materials my son did, so that dramatically cuts down on the amount of time it takes me to get her curriculum together. Today's subject: Writing and Grammar (a/k/a Language Arts) and Literature.

Middle School Curriculum Series: Spelling and Vocabulary

As my kids are wrapping up their school year (no, we're not on a traditional school calendar), and I'm putting together their curriculum for next year, I thought I'd share the curriculum and resources my daughter will be using for sixth grade in a multi-part series over the next couple of weeks. Since most of the books she'll be using are being handed down from her older brother, most of the lesson planning and scheduling has already been done. Yay me! Today's subject: Spelling & Vocabulary.

Middle School Curriculum Series: Science

Well, this is it! The last post in my Middle School Curriculum Series. I think the majority of homeschoolers (correct me if I'm wrong) do not use standard textbooks like we do, but I hope that the information (e.g., supplemental books, websites, games, etc.) in this series will help you and other homeschoolers in some way. Today's subject: Science.

Middle School Curriculum Series: History and Geography

For the fourth post in my Middle School Curriculum Series, I am going to share the social studies curriculum my daughter will be using for sixth grade. She'll be using a different textbook than my son did, and I haven't quite put her lesson plans together yet, but I do have most of the needed materials together. Today's subjects: History and Geography.

Middle School Curriculum Series: Mathematics

As I'm putting together my daughter's curriculum for next year, I'll be sharing the books and resources she'll be using for sixth grade in a multi-part blog series over the next couple of weeks. This is part two of this series. Not only am I sharing the textbooks we will be using, I'm also letting you in on a few of our favorite websites we like to visit and fun board games we like to play. Today's subject: Mathematics.

Practical Life Skills (or Why Chores Are a Good Thing)

Practical Life Skills (or Why Chores Are a Good Thing)

We all know we don't have to be homeschoolers to teach our children practical life skills, but it does afford us additional opportunities—since we can incorporate many of them into our children's curriculum. (For those not homeschooling, chore lists work just as well!)
